Abstract
The goal of this study is to provide the basic elements in developing the intensified-supplementary type curriculum, which is divided into basic and intensified course, and the subject-option type curriculum, to adapt the contents of each curriculum steps to learner's learning ability.
It has been criticized that the present school curricula are focusing on the providers of educational services rather than the demanders of educational services. Accordingly, deliberating on the degree of learners' abilities and their differences, the 7th curriculum now under consideration should put the main emphasis on the maximum realization of individual's potentiality.
In developing the frame of Social Studies curriculum differentiation, the following items should be taken into account.
- The establishment of curriculum steps and periods.
- Setting the standards for the degree of difficulty levels and student's learning ability.
- Setting the standards for the student's qualification of completion of courses.
- The rationales and methods of evaluation.
- Scope and sequence of the contents and development of text books.
- The development of subject-matters which are various in the contents and depth of learning
