Abstract
This studyconsidersanoptimalinterventionstrategyforinfluenzaoutbreaks.VariationsintheSEIAR model areconsideredtoincludeseasonalforcingandagestructure,andcontrolstrategiesinclude vaccination,antiviraltreatment,andsocialdistancingsuchasschoolclosures.Weformulateanoptimal controlproblembyminimizingtheincidenceofinfluenzaoutbreakswhileconsideringintervention costs. Weexaminetheeffectsofdelaysinvaccineproduction,seasonalforcing,andage-dependent transmissionratesontheoptimalcontrolandsuggestsomeoptimalstrategiesthroughnumerical simulations.
