Abstract
Half of male populations will have symptoms and signs of prostatitis in their lifetime. There is controversy concerning diagnosis of prostatitis with 67Ga scintigraphy because the focal midline pelvic uptake is usually considered to be physiologic uptake in colon. The authors describe 67Ga scintigraphy and SPECT/CT findings of a 58-year-old man with right flank pain and fever. The examination demonstrated abnormal uptake of 67Ga within the prostate and right kidney upper pole, suggesting prostatitis and acute pyelonephritis (APN) contemporary. After completion of antibiotic treatment, follow-up scintigraphy and SPECT/CT showed complete resolution of APN, but uptake remained within the prostate.
