Abstract
Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology facilitates an ample diversity of applications in wireless communications, networking, radar imaging and localization systems. The popularity of multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) approach of UWB continues to grow as the radio transmission technology in wireless personal area network (WPAN), especially for high data rate applications in home networks. This is a recommended technology by standard ECMA-368 for high rate UWB. Some distinguishing characteristics of MB-OFDM systems, comparing to simple OFDM systems, like zero padding, different channel responses and channel energy across different bands, time-frequency hopping, etc., provide diversity components and additional design constraints, and hence, should be taken into account in the designs of synchronization, and channel estimation. In this dissertation, we introduces some synchronization, and and channel estimation techniques, with the consideration of realistic issues
