Abstract
The early-stage storm rainfall has a problem in the separated sewer system due to the pollutants of nonpoint source especially in urban areas. Therefore this study is to investigate a nonpoint pollutant reduction facility which has been established to deal with early-stage storm runoff on the roads. The study area is located in Yuldong park, Bundang-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Kyunggi-do, which is classified as a nonpoint pollutant source. The vortex and filter flush types were selected as the efficient nonpoint pollutant reduction facilities, we used both facilities at the same time, and we evaluated their functions. For this experiment, the roads of 1.4ha and six lanes surrounding the park are selected and the drainage area of the roads has mostly mountainous districts. The parking lot at the park and neighboring roads are the sources of nonpoint pollutants. The monitoring was carried out for 4 rainfall events and the outflow trend was analyzed through the runoff and concentration curve. By using accumulated load curve of the site, the characteristics of the outflow on the study area are analyzed through the calculation of first flushing effect and EMC (Event Mean Concentration) and SMC (Site Mean Concentration). To evaluate efficiency of a nonpoint pollutant reduction facility, the treatment efficiency over time is analyzed. The site for the research showed a good efficiency in early stage due to the inflow of highly concentrated nonpoint pollutant from first flushing effect on the high-dense roads, but later the efficiency was decreased because of its reduced concentration. From the use of EMCs, the result showed BOD has the efficiency of 32∼42%, COD of 25∼50%, T-N of 17∼63%, T-P of 29∼45% and TSS of 32∼52%, respectively. And the results of the treatment efficiency for heavy metals showed Cd of 100%, Cr of non-detection, Cu of 13∼96% , Fe of 37∼100% , Mn of -129∼65% , Ni of 39∼94% , Pb of -179∼100% and Zn of -29∼42%, respectively.
