Abstract
본 연구는 영어로 진행하는 영어 수업이 본격적으로 시행하고 있는 시점에서 학생들의 TEE(Teaching English in English) 수업에 대해서 다각도로 학생들의 인식을 조사하고 그 효율성의 고찰을 하고자 하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 TEE 수업이 나아갈 방향과 영어교육의 질적인 향상을 도모하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 인천 소재 B중학교 2학년 남학생 178명을 대상으로 설문지를 이용해 TEE에 대한 학생들의 심리상태, TEE 수업 내용에 대한 학생들의 생각과 이해도, 4가지 기능에 대한 학생들의 효능감, 수업 방향에 대한 학생들의 선호도, TEE 수업으로 인한 영어 공부에 대한 의욕과 영어 실력 향상, TEE와 사교육과의 관계, 그리고 TEE에 적합한 수업 교실과 학생들에게 주어지는 참여 기회 이렇게 7가지 파트로 나누어 설문지 결과를 분석하였다. 심리적인 측면에서는 학생들이 TEE 수업에 큰 불편함을 느끼기보다 잘 적응하고 있었고 가장 도움이 되는 스킬로 말하기를 꼽았고 가장 부족한 스킬로 문법을 꼽았다. TEE 수업 내용에 대해서는 대체적으로 잘 이해하고 있었다. 말하기, 듣기, 문법, 쓰기 실력 향상에 대해서는 각 스킬별로 대부분의 학생들이 실력 향상에 대해 크게 느끼지 못하고 있었다. 학생들은 TEE 수업보다는 한국어를 통한 영어 수업을 더 선호하고 있었고 문법 설명에 관해서 더욱 더 그러했다. TEE 수업에 대한 의욕도가 실력 향상에 영향을 미친다는 것을 보여주었고 아직까지는 학생들이 사교육에 많이 의존하고 있었다. TEE 수업에 참여할 수 있는 기회는 대체적으로 균등하게 주어줬고 학생들은 TEE 수업이 상급반 학생들에게 더 효과적이라고 답했다.
