Abstract
A problem of high logistics cost as one of barriers of logistics industry has come to assume a grave aspect and an investment plan for social overhead capital sector has also continued to be drawn up. Then, it is need of a cost-benefit analysis (COBA) to identify the effective investment of logistics section. In the COBA, the benefit factor involves main items for savings of Value of Time(VOT) for passengers and vehicle routing cost. 'The benefit from saving of VOT' may be a critical factor to determine the validity of investment for the business. Though, previous researches have addressed mainly the traffic of passengers and there is nothing much domestic research related VOT on passage in comparison with foreign researches. Thus, this research was aimed to estimate VOT in freight transportation, assess its benefit, and cause an effective investment. The transport market in Korea was segmented into distribution channels, freight items, and logistics department operating system, and each of them was analyzed. The methodologies of this research were the marginal rate of substitution (MRS) method and the logit model.
